A l\u2019adolescence, il prit des cours de solf\u00e8ge et puis fit ses d\u00e9buts dans l\u2019association \u00ab\u00a0El Moutribia\u00a0\u00bb. Il lui vint l\u2019id\u00e9e de \u00ab\u00a0donner une note de gaiet\u00e9 dans les concerts en cr\u00e9ant un genre de comique\u00a0\u00bb. Il compose de courts sketches et en 1925 fonde la compagnie \u00ab\u00a0Zahia troupe\u00a0\u00bb (La troupe joyeuse). En 1926, il monte la pi\u00e8ce de th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00ab\u00a0Djeha\u00a0\u00bb suivie de \u00ab\u00a0Zouadj Beni akline\u00a0\u00bb. Il fera ensuite des adaptations avant de renoncer d\u00e9finitivement au th\u00e9\u00e2tre en 1932.
