En\u00a01934, sa famille s\u2019exile en Arabie saoudite o\u00f9 il suit des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole des sciences l\u00e9gales de M\u00e9dine et devient enseignant. Il \u00e9crit des articles, des essais sur les\u00a0litt\u00e9ratures arabes et fran\u00e7aises et plusieurs nouvelles\u00a0 dans des journaux. Il exerce ensuite la fonction de postier \u00e0 la Mecque. Il \u00e9crit plusieurs articles critiques, dont le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre demeure \u00ab\u00a0La litt\u00e9rature arabe va-t-elle \u00e0 l\u2019extinction\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb. Au lendemain du\u00a0du 8 mai 1945, il revient au pays et s\u2019installe \u00e0\u00a0Constantine. Il int\u00e8gre l\u2019Association des Ulema et devint directeur d&rsquo;une \u00e9cole primaire de l\u2019Association. En 1947, il publie \u00ab\u00a0Maa himar Tewfiq El Hakim, (Avec l&rsquo;\u00e2ne de Tewfiq El Hakim), le premier roman alg\u00e9rien en langue arabe, suivi de\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0 Namadhidj bacharia\u00a0\u00bb, (Sp\u00e9cimens humains). \u00a0Il a \u00e9crit plusieurs articles pour \u00ab\u00a0<em>El Bassa\u00efr<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0<em>Echou&rsquo;la<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. En 1949\u00a0, il fonde la troupe th\u00e9\u00e2trale \u00ab\u00a0El Mazher constantinois\u00a0\u00bb, avec laquelle il montera plusieurs pi\u00e8ces tout en recr\u00e9ant plusieurs \u0153uvres classiques occidentales en\u00a0arabe classique comme \u00ab\u00a0Anba\u00e7a\u00a0\u00bb d\u2019apr\u00e8s le\u00a0Ruy Blas\u00a0\u00bb de Victor HUGO et \u00ab\u00a0Si Achour\u00a0\u00bb inspir\u00e9 du\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Topaez\u00a0\u00bb de Marcel PAGNOL.
